Upma is another great option for a healthy breakfast. It is made out of semolina flour (suji) or wheat flour (rava). Since it is made up of complex carbohydrates it is extremely good for the heart and keeps you energetic the entire day because it is a complex carbohydrate. Since it takes time to digest, Upma will keep you full for a fairly long time thus ensuring that one does not binge on anything else or eat junk. Upma is great for the immunity and if one adds cute (such as cashew and peanuts), a great source of iron as well.





3.  Scrambled Egg with Toast and sprouts









The scrambled egg referred to here is essentially an 'anda bhurji', which is essentially scrambled egg only but with vegetables and spices. This is one of the best and most healthy breakfast options. This is because it is loaded with proteins and has the right amount of carbohydrates as well. As we all know eggs are a great source of protein and with the addition of sprouts, one's protein intake increases. The addition of vegetables and spices adds the right amount of spice and flavor! And the toast provides the carbohydrates.

4.  IDLI




Idli is essentially a steamed rice cake also comprising black lentils (dal). Because of the rice there is an adequate amount of complex carbohydrates and the black lentils provide the protein. One makes idli and purchasing the batter, which has no preservatives. The idli has fatty acids, no saturated fat and absolutely no cholesterol in it. One idli comprises anything between 30-60 calories. You can eat idli with vegetable stew, chutney or sambar (lentils) to add flavour and nutrients. Idli is the perfect breakfast for those trying to lose weight as it has barely any calories and the right kind of nutrients.
