Among the increasing corona virus cases worldwide, a relief study has revealed that children are at the least risk of severe, risky symptoms of corona virus infection.
Researchers say children are recovering more quickly from corona infections than adults.
Corona-positive children fully recovered from infection in just one or two weeks. The study also found that mild symptoms developed in children.
According to a recent report published in the Journal of the American Medical Association JAMA, most children infected with the corona virus develop only mild symptoms and usually recover within two weeks of treatment.
This is concluded based on 18 studies conducted on a total of 1065 participants from China and Singapore.
In addition to the JAMA report, researchers from Pavia University in Italy, Friborg University in Switzerland and Melbourne University in Australia also contributed to their report, which showed early recovery of pediatric patients.
Scientists said that most of the children infected with the virus were hospitalized and those children who showed symptoms were given supportive medicines. None of the children from zero to nine years of age lost their lives.
The study said that there is a possibility of corona virus infection in children, although they are less likely to be unwell or have serious symptoms. Most children suffering from corona infection had mild symptoms of fever, dry cough, fatigue, but in some cases no symptoms were seen.
Only one child showed signs of pneumonia which was successfully treated. Researchers reported that the children were infected through close contact with their parents or other family members.
Dr. Ajay Mohan of AIIMS says that the best way to protect children and their families from infection is to adopt preventive measures as prescribed by the World Health Organization.
Teach children some things, including washing hands regularly with soap and water. Alcohol-based sanitizers may also be used.
If you cough or sneeze, place the tissue on the mouth or cover the face with the elbow. Do not touch the eyes, nose and mouth to avoid the virus. Social distancing is most important. Stay away from people who are sick themselves.
Dr. KM Nadheer of AIIMS says that some newborns need to be taken more care of in the corona virus epidemic.
These include premature children, asthma sufferers. However, all current research has revealed the fact that while children and newborns are at risk of corona virus, the disease has less effect than adults.
